Tungsten Alloy Shield for Cancer Treatment Equipment

Tungsten alloy shield for cancer treatment equipment is made of tungsten heavy alloy material with the characters of high density, high hardness and high shielding capacity for various kinds of rays. As tungsten is non-toxic and environmental, causing no harm for the environment and human body, thus tungsten alloy shield is widely used in cancer treatment equipment. In cancer treatment, tungsten alloy shield for cancer treatment equipment can protect healthy skin tissue, help save lives, and protect healthy tissue around by eliminating cancer cells.

Powder metallurgy technology is used to produce the product. The process comprised the mixing of a tungsten heavy alloy powder (a content of over 90 wt.% W and the balance of Ni, Fe) with an organic binder, thermoplastic shaping of the mixture to a green cylinder material by an mold press process, followed by debinding and sintering. The sintering step was performed in hydrogen atmosphere under liquid phase sintering conditions at a temperature range of 1300°C to 1500°C. After machining and surface grinding, the product is finished.
